Cops charge robbery suspect in custody

Lawmen attached to the St Andrew Central Police Division have charged 51-year-old Jason Benjamin of Arnett Crescent, Kingston 11, with simple larceny and malicious destruction of property following an incident on Ardenne Road on April 12.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., a man parked his vehicle along the roadway and attended an event in the vicinity. Upon his return, he  discovered that the vehicle had been broken into and several bottles of alcoholic beverages valued at $386,900 had been stolen. A report was made to the police, and an intensive investigation was launched. During the investigation, it was revealed that Benjamin, who was already in custody for a separate matter, was responsible for the theft. 

The charges were laid following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney. His court date is being finalised.
